Global Leaders Program

Global Leaders

WHAT WE DO

Art

Global leaders are given the opportunity for creative expression multiple times a day. Our art center remains open during center time for the students to explore many areas of art. Easels, along with paints, stamps, scissors, glue sticks, crayons and markers are always available for the student to use.

Math

The Journey curriculum has structured math with step by step instructions to the teacher to ordinal numbers, additions, subtractions, fractions, multiplication, skip counting and time-telling. This systematic teaching plan incorporates the use of manipulatives and Promethean board technology.

Music and Movement

Music and movement provide an activity to a structured environment. Students experience music and movement with music instruments, a variety of songs and different types of dances. Students also enjoy music while playing outdoor on our outdoor sound system.

Foreign language

Spanish, Korean, Mandarin, and sign language are taught once a week.
Literacy
handwriting continues in the Global Leaders program. Practicing handwriting methodically and logically is a daily practice in the Journey curriculum. Along with writing, parts of speech are included in our lesson plans as is sentence structure.

Reading

Global Leaders are always encouraged to read. Students are reminded of letter sounds and progress on through blends of consonants. By the end of the school year, our students will have developed into a level one reader.

Science

The Journey curriculum has a dedicated science book. Students will explore all areas of science throughout the school year.

Outdoor play

Global Leaders play outdoor 45 minutes in the morning and the afternoon. La O’wn Academy supports healthy active play. Our state of art playground provides plenty of room to run, play ball, games, dance or sit and pretend play. A variety of toys and types of equipment are provided to stimulate the imagination of our students.
